Level I: An Introduction to Improvisational Theater

This course is open to people of all skill levels and no prior experience is needed. Learn the fundamentals of improvisation with this fast-paced introduction. We’ll cover the power of ‘yes, and…’, technique, environment, characters, object work, improv games, and all elements of the improvisational process. If you have no prior experience, this course will meet you where you are and explore the fun, limitless world of improv. All students receive free admission to Music City Improv and LOL Nashville performances.

Level III B: The Game of the Scene

You must have taken III A: An Introduction to Long Form or have significant performance experiences to register for this course. We will focus on learning how to find and create games starting with two person scenes. The entire ensemble will play out whatever is discovered, pushing the game to it’s biggest laughs, then starting all over again! Each week, you will have lots of time and many opportunities to hone your ability to play a scene intelligently, with each repetition building your intuitive understanding of the architecture of comedic improvisations.

 Stand up Comedy Writing and Performing

August 8, 15, 22, 29, and September 5.

If you have an interest in comedy writing, then this is your class! Taught by two of Nashville’s longest performing stand-ups, Sean Parrott and Brad Edward Prendergast, you will receive lots of tips and tricks to help you create relateable comedic bits that can segue in to stand up performances. This is a true workshop approach, with prompts and sharing in the class, and assignments given to prepare for the next meeting. The class ends with a stand up showcase.

 Registration and Tuition
Cost is $150 for each course. The instructors are professional improvisers with Music City Improv and LOLNashvlle.  Enrollment is open until the first day of class, or until it is full.
